After hearing the online reviews we were a bit worried but as this was the only restaurant open on Christmas eve and day and we had nowhere else to go we had to go. My husband and I were pleasantly surprized. The food was excellent. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, they were light, hot and crispy as they should be. We also had the ribeye and the prime rib. Both were cooked to perfection and very flavorful. After we ate we meet the chef who had been flown in to revamp the menu. She did an excellent job because we are very picky eaters and the food was very good. If you have tried this place in the past I recommend you retry it.

I have dined at other McCormick & Schmick's in other states and have enjoyed the restaurant. We were on vacation in AL. and chose McCormick and Schmick's for a News Years Eve dinner. We made reservation for 6:45, upon entering the restaurant there were 5 or 6 hostesses behind the check in. All of them completely ignored us standing there for approximately 1 minute while they were all looking at the computer screen and discussing the evening. My husband finally asked if we were interrupting something and one girl got the message and asked if we had a reservation. She took our name, and then said nothing, we were waiting for some communication such as, "one moment and we will seat you", but nothing was said. Finally we were seated.

"
The server wasn't well informed regarding the menu. Had to stop to retrieve info several times. This is info she should have been familiar with i.e.the differenxces in the oysters.My husband ordered the Blue Points and they were not served with a cocktail fork. When asked if she had a cocktail fork the server replied "I'll see if I can find one".Apparently she thought that this was an unsual request.Had to request extra horseradish 2 times. The request was made along with order.

We had been to this restaurant once before several years ago and were not impressed. We decided to give it another try because it was one of the few places open on Christmas Day. Our experience this time was entirely different. My husband ordered shrimp and grits which was different from any other version we've had, but was very tasty. I ordered Parmesan crusted flounder which we both agreed was one of the best fish dishes we've had in a long time. Our only complaint was the delay in getting our table. We had a 3:15 reservation and didn't get seated until after 4:00. Fortunately the wait was mitigated by a very good Bloody Mary from the bar and an interesting conversation with two ladies from Georgia who were also waiting for a table.

Even with reservations we were not seated in a timely fashion(more than 30 min.) Finally ended up taking a spot in the bar/waiting area. Their inability to handle a large crowd made out dining experience quite forgettable. Our eating environment amid groups waiting to be seated was bad. Food was good but service was spotty. They can do better!!!

The food we were served was tasty but we were disappointed in that at 6:30 p.m. they were out of the potatoes and vegetable medley that was supposed to come with our dinners. Instead we received french fries and asparagus which was a bit of a disappointment.

We waited a half hour after our reservation time, but, after all, this was Christmas Day. Our seafood (salmon, shrimp, scallops) was wonderful, as was the dessert (apple pie). On the other hand, my whipped potatoes were bland and runny and the zucchini bitter. However, overall, we were all pleased with our meal.

There were 5 of us and we were very disappointed. Service was terrible. The food was finally served an hour after it was ordered and was room tempature. We asked to see the dessert menu and when it was handed to us we were told that it would be a while before it would be served because there was a "backup in the tickets". This was the second visit that was a disappointment and will not go again.

Dismal. Initial service was very slow. Appetizers and drinks were fine. Waiter was in a rush - could not comprehend we were there to enjoy several hours, several appetizers and a bottle of wine with dinner and pay good money for it. Rushed to order entrees. Steak advertised as aged NY strip was frozen pre-portioned food service slab that was undercooked, sent back, and still undercooked. Tasteless and water-logged in any event. Side orders were twice botched by hapless waiter. Roasted potatoes were ordered and not delivered, ordered again, and we still got mashed potatoes. Stuffed shrimp entree was tasteless rubber. At that point, we stopped correcting things, forgot about dessert and after-dinner drinks, paid and left.
