"Food was fabulous! Service over the top! Ardy was our server and he was perfect! We had tickets to a Broadway show and he kept service prompt and timely! His recommendations were spot on from starters to entree."

"Restaurant appeared to be somewhat short staffed. Waiter did his best and maintained his composure throughout but could only be in so many places at any one time. Wine prices ($10-12/glass) for middle of the road offerings seemed a bit on the high side but tolerable until I saw that that was for a ~4 oz. (barely) pour. I know that alcohol is a major profit center for restaurants but this was really pushing it. Food (swordfish in my case) was quite enjoyable."

"The restaurant has recently changed their menu and sadly for the worst. They have taken off the special hand made sauces which was a trade mark and one of the main reasons I always visited when in Sacramento. The wine list is terribly limited especially for a restaurant in California let alone right across the street from the Capitol! NO even number CA wines all odd years. When talking to the waiter he told us that the FB manager has limited the number of bottles on hand and we had to accept a lesser quality. So one knows our table ordered two bottles over 125 per bottle."

"We went for the prix-fixe menu for Valentine's Day. Both of us ordered the scallops with sea beans and felt that while the scallops were tender and cooked right, they were a little fishy and salty. Second my husband had the spinach soup, which would have been great if it weren't so salty. I chose the watercress salad with fish, but didn't realize the fish was smoked so it wasn't enjoyable for me (not sure if I didn't fully read the description or if the fish was not specified as smoked). For our main course I chose the ahi tuna which was cooked perfectly and was served with very sweet, whipped sweet potatoes. I enjoyed the entree. My husband had the pork tenderloin and said it was great. The service was good and we had no other issues."

"We had a very nice dinner at Dawson's. I had the filet which was excellent. One person had the pork chop which he liked but needed to be cooked a little more. Another in our group had the swordfish and he said it was good. We had excellent sides of spinach, mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese (my favorite). Overall the service was good until mid-way through dinner when our server kind of disappeared. They serve french press coffee which was wonderful. I would recommend Dawson's to anyone but request a table away from the kitchen area if you want to have a quiet evening."
