Bayona, in its 20th year, is nestled in the heart of the French Quarter in a charming 200 year old Creole Cottage punctuated by a lush, tropical courtyard. The cuisine of our James Beard Award winning Chef Susan Spicer is rooted in France, circles the globe for inspiration and lands firmly in New Orleans to embrace the wealth of our local bounty and rich cuisine. Chef Spicer's partner Regina Keever has assembled a staff that is dedicated to expertly guiding you through your wine list and menu choices in order to seamlessly serve you in a knowledgeable, unpretentious, and professional manner. We dined at Bayona late on a busy Friday night (9pm). We were seated in a timely fashion, however, once we ordered wine and appetizers, our wait staff disappeared. 45 minutes to an hour later, we brought to their attention that we had not been served our bottle of wine. With that reminder, our service suddenly became very attentive and outstanding. The food was superb. I expect that our experience with the service was likely a fluke. I would return to this restaurant, but recommend earlier reservations.

Unprofessional. We had a 9pm reservation. Walked in and immediately witnessed a confrontation between the hostess/manager? and a patron. Raised voices and nastiness, do not make a good first impression. Another hostess quickly scooted us into the lounge and asked us to wait while they "cleared some tables". Eventually she asked if we wanted to order drinks. We continued waiting in lounge (which felt a bit dated like an older elegant lady's parlor). Several other groups were made to wait as well. Finally, an HOUR later they sat us upstairs in the "wine room" and the hostess made sure to tell us they would transfer the drinks to our dinner bill! But did not apologize for the long wait.more waiting, more fighting. Food? What food? Disaster

My wife and I had a wonderful experience at this charming French Quarter gem. The combinations of flavors were unique and exceptional.The ambiance of a creole cottage was romantic. The wait staff courteous and caring. The wine list is ample. The only negative is the potential risk of addiction to Susan Spicer's masterpiece.

Overall, the food was very good and the service was informative, and attentive. Food was a bit slow coming out for entrees, but we really didn't mind the wait. We were seated upstairs, and despite the attempts to make it a pleasant experience, it still felt as though we were the "crazy cousins" who had to eat in the attic during a family dinner. If I ever make reservations again, I will specify being seated downstairs. Otherwise, I'll pass on eating there again.

Very nice place to eat with a down to earth yet eclectic menu. The waitress was very good and we enjoyed her presentation of the menu items. She seeemed to really enjoy talking about the food and answered our questions in detail. The food was outstanding. We will go back.

Had Saturday Brunch here and it was a 3 course Prix Fix Menu and was fantastic. Wait staff was knowledgeable about food with great explanations and suggestions. Unfortunatley it turned out very noisey as large group was seated behind us and a woman on the other sids was shouting to other diners, which all made it difficult to have a civilization conversation. However, food and service impeccable.
